Water

Water is the essence of life. It is gem-like in many respects save one. We can live without gemstones, without water life, as we know it, is impossible. Water comprises about 70% of the human body and living cells are 90% water. We pay more, per gallon, for bottles of drinkable water now than we pay for gasoline. Clean water is, irrefutably, the most important liquid on earth and is becoming more precious every day. The physical appearance and optical effects created by water have fascinated me since childhood. The refractions cast on the bottom by sunlight and the distortion of the bottom created by the water surface which becomes a lens deformed by current and wind, create an abstract world without equal.
